Art books

Hey ok so this post is just a little blurb about art books. Now when I say "art books" I don't really mean like "how to draw" or technique style books. I mean like the art of Street Fighter or The art of Fullmetal Alchemist, books like that. Anyways I love these books and love collecting them. I would definitely say if there was any one thing I am addicted to it is art books. I have about 25-30 so a small collection to some and a large collection to others. These books to me however aren't just something cool to look at and possess. To me these books are constant reminders to grow and get better as an artist as well as a vast and ever expanding well of inspiration. Anyways I say all this to not only show my point but to share the books I have and from the list I am about to compile I ask if anyone reading this blog has any interest in a particular book let me know and I will post up a small little something about it with some pictures and some of my thoughts on the book. Anyways here are the books I have.

Lupe Fiasco - Words I Never Said

Tekkonkinkreet

So this is kind of out of the blue but I was thinking about this movie recently and just how great it is. Tekkonkinkreet is a marvel of animation and design. It is absolutely gorgeous to look at. The visuals are stunning, beautiful backgrounds, interesting character designs and again some really awesome set pieces. I won't say much about the movie other than it follows the lives of two kids Black and White. And there journey living in the street and what they deal with and their relationship. The film was made by one of my favorite studios in 4c, directed by Michael Arias and adapted from the manga by Taiyo Matsumoto. Tekkonkinkreet to me isn't a movie that you can really explain to people, it needs to be seen. Which is why I will leave you with a trailer and a reoccuring statement I've made many times before, SEE THIS MOVIE!

Man I have been just design crazy hahaha anyways I think this is awesome and I think big foot is both real and awesome so yeah, enjoy.

Invisible (Gentle)Man Sketch.

Just as the title suggests. The plan is to do this up in a vintage movie/monster poster style along with one for Dracula and the Wolfman. Possibly a fourth as well. Oh well I hope you guys dig it :D

Something I wrote in 5 minutes.

Ok well I created these two characters years ago called Tortoise and Hare and they are just that. A Tortis and a Hare. anyways I wrote up this little scene just because and figured I would share it with you all. I am hoping to do a couple illustrations to accompany it eventually.


Tortoise & Hare: Out in the snow.

    A scene showing a calm and peaceful looking snowscape. A field with a few trees and some small figures off in the distance. Hare is in wonderment of the snow and how immense it makes everything look, "Tortoise, where do you think snow comes from?" Hare asks. "The sky" Tortoise retorts. "But, how do you know?" Hare suggests questioningly. "Well we see it come from the sky and land on the ground, so obviously it comes from up there." Tortoise exclaims growing slightly annoyed. "Well I don't think that's the case, I think there are giant airplanes that drop snow onto the ground." Hare says with a stoic conviction. "Hare, what are you talking about?" Tortis at this point is in a state of bewilderment by Hare's proposed logic. "It's simple Tortoise, I'm talking about the snow planes. Jeez and you say I'm crazy." Tortoise is left alone to ponder this as Hare leaves the scene and leaves behind a Tortoise with a face dripped in astonishment.

Updated Death!

Death!

hey, ok so this is Death from Cast. He is well, Death. The Grim Reaper, the eternal collector, the judge, whatever you prefer. This is Death how he used to be and will probably appear in flashbacks. The "new" death looks slightly different. As you know times change and so do wardrobes haha. I will probably upload a sketch of the current look for Death at a later date. Anyways a little about Death. Death is a compulsive gambler. The patch on his cloak thing is chinese for Gamble/wager. He smokes a chinese tobacco pipe and is never away from his pouch of gold. He is a crazy character. Anyways I hope you dig it and I hope you're as intrigued to learn more as I am excited to make more!
